Inletting hinges can be a time-consuming and often tedious process, requiring careful measurement to achieve precise results. Unusually shaped ones - like quadrant hinges - are particularly difficult to install. With the Hinge Wizard, making these mortises becomes not only painless, but practically pleasurable! You measure only once: since the fixture indexes from the corner of your box (assuming that the box and lid have the same dimensions) hinges will automatically be in alignment when they are installed. Individual templates are available for the most common types and sizes of hinges, making it possible to quickly mortise an exact fit for even troublesome quadrant hinges.

The Hinge Wizard comes with one template of your choice; others may be purchased as accessories. You will require an accurate router with a 3/8" guide bushing and a base large enough so that it cannot drop into the opening in the hinge template. (You may want to consider the Transparent Base Plate/ Template Guide for this purpose.) The best results will be produced when the router is fitted with a 1/4" spiral down-cut bit.
