The digital scales mounted on our thickness planer and Performax™ sander have been two of the best investments we have made in our shop, even though they were relatively expensive when we purchased them several years ago. When the units began to be manufactured in China, prices dropped, and we put one of these more economical models in our catalog. We were frustrated, however, that we could not offer an accompanying remote readout. Now, with this catalog, we are offering both an improved and better priced scale and a remote readout with an attractive price, as well. They are made by Shan, one of the top Chinese manufacturers of these units.

Of course, the scale may be used without the remote, but if you are old and stiff (like J.R.,) you will appreciate being able to mount the large number readout up where it is easy to see. It has a magnetic base which can be attached to any iron or steel machine part, and a long cord for connecting it to the scale. It is powered by two AAA batteries which also power the scale. (This new combo will also remember settings after it is turned off.) Mounting is not difficult; the instructions contain pictures with sample mounting arrangements. The scale, which is offered in either a 6" or an 8" length, is affixed to one static and one moving point on the machine, with the included brackets and screws. Only one end of the scale and the sliding part need to be attached to the machine. We guarantee that once you have installed a readout in your shop, you will wonder how you ever got along without it.
