You'll probably also want to have Livin' Large and House Party for this house. Also, the more objects you download first from this site, the better the house will work.

This is a semi-typical city dwelling. Like many Roman families, the Valernius family has chosen to rent out their front rooms for use as shops and bars to supplement their income. The family's living space is nonetheless very private with a large atrium and garden. The upstairs rooms are devoted to servants and storage. (There is also a bath tub for the young Valernius who isn't allowed in the family hot pool yet.)

Though some Romans were fortunate enough to live in fine villas or town houses, the majority of the population lived in cramped and dirty apartment buildings which could be as much six stories tall. These structures were poorly constructed and prone to collapse and fire, making them very unpleasant places to live. Like many insulae, these use the lower story for stores and wine shops, known as Caponae. The upper story contains several apartments. The lower floor contains two Caponas and several shops and there is a bath house in the back to be used by the apartment's residents. Typically, insuala dwellers would have had to walk to the nearest public bath house to get clean, but in the interests of keeping the Sims happy, they need only go downstairs to get clean!

This is a smaller house, with more cramped rooms. It follows exactly the floor plan shown on the "about homes" page. The garden is small and so is the atrium. In addition, there is a small building outside which serves a crypt. Traditionally, Romans buried there dead along streets far from the homes of the living, but the crypt makes an excellent outbuilding for the main house. The second story is empty except for a small room in back that contains servant's sleeping quarters.

This is a larger house with a different floor plan. The atrium is in the front with the triclinium and tablinium opening off of it. The garden is much longer with a reflecting pool running its length. The garden opens into the summer triclinium as well as a open hall way connected to both a large bathroom and kitchen. connected to the kitchen is a hall with servant's quarters. The second floor is entirely devoted to a large bedroom for the master of the house. The entire lot is surrounded by a hedge and encompasses an orchard and a pond.

This is not exactly a conventional house, but an attempt at a Roman fort. The game puts many constraints on the fort unfortunately; no crenellations, no flat tops on the towers, and a small area to work in. (A real Roman fort would be as big as the whole Sim Neighborhood!)

Anyway, It does simulate a Roman fort. It has four towers in addition to a gatehouse. There are two buildings for soldiers barracks and a mess hall and bathing facility as well. There is also an office for administrative work. The large building that dominates the fort is a house for the general or officer in charge of the fort and his family. This building provides an excellent opportunity to use the soldier costumes on the skins page. Hopefully I will have some barbarians for your soldiers to fight with soon!

This monstrous House is taken from a wall fresco found in a house in Pompeii. It is a seaside villa for the fabulously wealthy and would have probably have been found somewhere on the bay of Naples. The house is focused around a large garden with the atrium at the front and the other rooms focusing off of it, with the majority of the bedrooms on the second floor. A word of warning: This house, though accurate, can be very damaging to your Sims. They tend to lose themselves in the house and are unable to get to where they need to go. In real life, the wealthy people who would have lived in this house would have had plenty of servants to deal with their needs. However, since Sims don't seem inclined to wait on their friends in servile positions, you will have to keep them under tight control in this airy villa.
